My Boy: cutest baby of all time, ever.
Mike Patton with new band on Conan: super-lame. song was Boringsville, and I want to hear Patton bust out those pipes, not growl a verse then double up a LAME chorus with a chick. where have all my heroes gone? impress me, dammit! I'm halfway through the peeping tom album on myspace right now and it's boring me to tears. I know y'all are superfans but I think you'd have to agree this is subpar quality work.
The Raconteurs: hooray! this album is totally cool...Willy T. you are crazy, boy. Stylistically all over the map and the harmonies are wonderful! Plus it's so old-school in a pleasant way.
New Tool: Disappointment. Artwork is the coolest I've ever seen, but fellas, put some effort into the music! Every song sounds like the song Schism from the last album. Enough of the pull-offs and hammer-ons already! (a little guitar technique reference there) Maybe this album will grow on me like the last few Tool records, but I don't know if I want to give it the chance...I'm just hurt inside.
New Pearl Jam: hooray!! This is a sweet album! They just keep on keepin on and I dig it. Well crafted songs and catchy hooks in a cool way...(unlike Patton's new "poppy" hooks which sound like they're written by an angry 14 year old girl--example: "Mojo" chorus, I mean, who wrote that, Snoop Dogg?)
the movie Hostel: Rad, Rad, Rad. Much better than I expected. I even watched it twice AND put it on my Ipod. Ahh...sweet, sweet Ipod.
Making friends obsolete since christmas '05.

The Raconteurs are the biggest let down of my existence. That's all I'm saying. Also, let's do a band. A whole band. Let's go.
Vs. record reviews, agreed on all counts! :)
P.S. Les Claypool's new record is decent.
I'm going to have to disagree on the new tool D. Track 1,5,and 8 are pretty
badazz.
william-how can you say that? I guess I automatically expect the worst when listening to a side project, so if its even half decent, i'm happy. let's try to get something started next week, eh?
evil-aren't you a big Patton fan? most diehards I know love everything he does no matter what. i'm a little surprised. Claypool always reminds me of "Beavis & Butthead" for some reason...
l.l.-how can you listen to the beginning of the 1st track and not think "Schism" ripoff? it's all the same, man! "The Pot" is alright, but remember a little ditty called "Hooker with a Penis"? aren't they the same song only "the pot" isn't as good? lots of finger pointing and waving and such.
mandarin-were there boobies in that flick? hmmm...I was mostly paying attention to the cinematography and lighting...wink, wink ;)
Well... In my opinion The Pot has a very unique vocal styling that I have not heard from maynard. I also love the drum and bass breakdown during the verse. It kind of sounds like Hooker With A Penis, but there are substantial differences... I think?
you think wrong, my friend. you must have been high... And I wouldn't say they necessarily sound the same as much as thematically and lyrically. to say tool songs sound the same is not a moot point. indeed.
come on now D you know I wasn't high
of course you weren't high, I was merely making a cute reference to the song...you know, the lyrics?
i thought surely you would catch that and find it quite clever. shucks. why do I even bother.
--sorry I missed the golf outing, kerry. next time for sure.
